Webinar Program
Topic: The Art of Small Gardens: Combining Plants
5 years at De Goudbek
The best gardens are a collaboration and a process. Between gardener and location. Between designer and client. Between time and vision.
We worked with Helma Sjamaar previously for several at her previous garden De Pullenhof with the aim of simplifying and making the garden more manageable. Then the decision was made to move to a different and somewhat smaller garden in a more remote location in the very north of the Netherlands. Practically in the Wadden Sea. You can smell the salt air from the garden.
Agenda:
Establishing an ambitious garden from practically nothing is a process. We will discuss:
- Vision for the garden
- Phasing to make the project manageable
- Temporary solutions for transitional spaces
- Planning ahead with planting
- Process of creating different destinations within the garden and flow and route
- Editing planting to suit conditions
- Creating themes of color and atmosphere
- Seasonality
- Choosing certain plants to define the planting
- Retro plants
- Accepting and not accepting conditions
- Using the vernacular
Date: March 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (CET)
